In 1989 Richard Schmoyer designed a monumental-scale sundial based on a musical theme that utilizes a tuning fork gnomon.  At 14 feet in height and 12 feet in diameter, this would be a beautiful and accurate sundial to grace a public space.  Unfortunately, it has yet to be constructed.  Click here to download the summary of this sundial.
